about

Hi, I’m Fen! I’m a first-generation Vietnamese-American from San Jose. I graduated from UC San Diego with a B.A. in Media Visual Arts–a mix of film, design, and digital media.

I have two years of work experience in graphic design, including working for Two Hats Consulting Agency and UC San Diego. I took a detour from design to work in education, teaching and supporting students with disabilities, both Mild to Moderate and Extensive Support Needs.

As someone who grew up below the Federal Poverty Line™ and found joy through creating MySpace layouts and designing animated signatures for MMORPG forums, my dreams have swung like a pendulum throughout my life from being a doctor to design to teaching.

My most recent experience in education taught me about perseverance, patience, kindness, and genuine impact. As an adult, my dream is to live a full, authentic, and joyful life rooted in reality and to positively impact as many people as possible through my day-to-day.

Channels like Hopscotch, Numberock, and Gracie’s Corner were staples for my classroom, not only as auditory indicators for class transitions but also to integrate learning into their routine in a fun and engaging way. All of my experience in design and education have cultivated a desire to combine my love for creating, accessibility, and learning. As a passion project, I’m currently working on developing an animated channel focused on SEL, behavioral, academic, speech, and life skills for students with disabilities.

I’m currently open for freelance design or media work. I love connecting with new people and learning about their story. I’d also love to collaborate with other Bay Area artists! Please do feel free to contact me if you’d like to connect.
