About
Hi, I’m Fen Chau! I’m a queer first generation Vietnamese-American from San Jose, CA. I graduated from UC San Diego with a B.A. in Media Visual Arts, which is a mix of film/design/digital media.
I worked in graphic design and social media marketing for various departments on campus. After graduating, I worked at Two Hats Consulting, a design and marketing agency based in Berkeley. For various reasons, I switched into education for two years at Oakland Unified School District. I worked in special education as an Extensive Support Needs Teacher as well as an Instructional Support Specialist. It was an absolutely necessary part of my journey that provided an incredible amount of growth that I’ll never regret or forget.
I want to work for causes that are meaningful, impactful, and community-oriented. I don’t need to save the world, but as someone who’s learned how to overcome and navigate severe anxiety and depression by showing up for myself and others on a daily basis even when it’s incredibly hard, I want my work to be impactful and helpful to others in some way because I understand how hard life can be.
I would love to work in the gaming or animation industry, since these are communities that have saved me multiple times in my childhood and adulthood. The power of entertainment and joy especially in a time like this is powerful. I also would love to have coworkers who have similar hobbies as me!
Speaking of, my all-time favorite animes are One Piece, HxH (2011 and 1999), and Katekyo Hitman Reborn. Newer animes I like are Reincarnated as a Slime, Apothecary Diaries, and Shangri-la Frontier. I grew up playing a lot of MMORPGS, but I’m currently obsessed with Balatro. My PR is 3.4e25. I also love cooking Vietnamese food, going on crafty little picnics with my friends, riding bikes around the town, dancing, singing, hanging out with my cat Scooter, and crocheting at a cafe.
Let me know if you want to talk about Balatro:
